The left-hand panels show the position of one GPS station in central Nepal as a function of time. The black dots are actual data, the red lines show the steady motion. Over the past seven years, the station has moved northeast by about 20 cm (7 inches), with negligible vertical motion.

In the right-hand panels, the blue dots are the difference between those black and red points (i.e., the actual data with the average motion subtracted out). The red curve highlights the seasonal fluctuations about the steady northeasterly motion.
